Elton will become the first ever artist to play the Falkirk Stadium. As one of the greatest and most successful live artists, his spectacular stage shows continue to leave the competition standing! Elton will perform over two hours of hits from an incredible back catalogue, including such classics as ‘Bennie and The Jets’, ‘Crocodile Rock’ and ‘Your Song’, with the support of:
- 10 band members
- 40 crew on the road
- 60 people to put up the stage
- 1000 meals served during the five days on site to local and touring crew and band
personnel (including 150 evening meals on the day of the concert)
- Two 35 tonne cranes to lift the stage
- 8 trucks for production (sound, lights, video, wardrobe)
- 6 trucks to carry the stage
- 120 tonnes of steel in the stage
- 44,000 watts of power to run the show
- 9000 metres of cable
- 50 speakers
- 40 microphones on stage
- 2 pianos on tour
- 1 Elton John!
Elton said:
“My first Scottish gigs were in 1971 – forty years ago! – when I played Stirling University, Strathclyde University and Dunfermline Kinema. But I’ve never played Falkirk until now and it’s high time I did - I’m really looking forward to playing at the Stadium. And I hope Falkirk FC soon makes it back into the Scottish Premier League!
Last October I played my 3000th live concert, and I am still as excited about playing live as I was when my career began – in fact probably more so. In recent years I have tried to include new venues, visiting towns and even countries where I’ve never played before. There is a great buzz when the news is announced, and the band and I have certainly found that these audiences really appreciate us coming to their home town. So, Falkirk, I’ll see you in June and we’ll have a ball!”
2CELLOS and Tallia Storm are set to open the show.
Classically trained musicians 2CELLOS have performed together since January 2011 and in that time have become internet sensations, and have landed a major record deal and management contract whilst being taken under the wing of Elton John.
Local girl Tallia Storm’s addition to the bill is testament to her determination. This Christmas whilst abroad on holiday, Tallia used her instinct to her advantage when she encountered David Furnish, and asked him to pass on a letter to Elton John. The following day Elton contacted her and told her that she has one of the most exciting vocal signatures he had heard in years, and that he absolutely loved her material and her vibe. This lead to her being invited to join Elton in Falkirk. She accepted of course!
