Comprising the collective talents within two of Scotland’s most innovative and captivating duos, The Halton Quartet may be more familiar to audiences as Angus Lyon & Ruaridh Campbell, and Wingin’ It. The four met on board the mv Halton during the 2007 Orkney Folk Festival and have since gone on to make music which is both rich in tradition and boldly forward-looking, with arrangements that expand and develop melodic ideas with imagination, subtlety and brio. Influenced by Argentinean tango master Astor Piazzolla, The European classical school, New York Jazz and Scottish tune forms - this is music with genuine heart and soul.
Kathleen MacInnes' background is in Gaelic TV Radio, Film and Theatre but in the last few years, especially after the release of her first album, 'Og Mhadainn Shamhraidh,' she has become better known for her voice. Her second solo album is coming soon.
In 2010 Kathleen's vocals featured in Ridley Scott's Robin Hood with Scott praising her voice; "Kathleen has a very natural powerful voice! Beautiful!".
"She has unique vocal colour and an ability to breathe dramatic life into her songs...and her first album is a beauty". The Scotsman
Scotland on Sunday awarded her debut album as "Best Folk Album released in 2006"
