2013’s most exciting acts will take to the stage in celebration of the most important night in the urban music calendar – The MOBO Awards. Celebrating its 18th anniversary in Glasgow, it is guaranteed to be a spectacular event! Read below for a taste of this year’s show!
The UK’s Biggest Urban Artist, international Platinum selling, three-time MOBO award winner Tinie Tempah will return to where it all started - the MOBO stage. He’ll be ‘bouncing’ on stage in this epic not to be missed, start to the spectacular 18th MOBO Awards show. Expect pyros, gymnast, fire and plenty of energy from the homegrown Rapper.
Australian phenomenon the hottest property in Rap right now Iggy Azalea, will roll her Las Vegas inspired stage show into town. Accompanied by six Vegas show girls and a stunning carouse they’ll be ‘twerking’ across stage with plenty of feathers, sparkle and Swag. No doubt that this performance will set the 18th MOBO awards alight!
Platinum-selling producer and multi MOBO award nominee Naughty Boy will transform the stage in to a stunning ‘Hotel Cabana’ inspired playground. Accompanied by a hugely talent array of cross genre special quests performers Naughty Boy has pulled out all the stops to unsure he celebrates the MOBOs 18th in a spectacular fashion.
Mercury Award and 4 x MOBO Award nominee Laura Mvula, will add her spine tingling retro-soul and Jazz infused vocal to the Awards show line up. Laura has been compared to the likes of Nina Simone and Billie Holliday and will no doubt produce an intimate and intense performance of hits ‘Sing to the Moon’ and ‘Green Garden’. The UK soul songbird’s smooth and sultry voice is sure to hypnotise – you have been warned!
Needing no introduction, the multi-award winning Godfathers of the UK Urban Music Scene, So Solid Crew will reunite once more on the MOBO stage recreating the magic of their momentous 2001 performance. Touted at ‘the’ most influential moment in MOBO history the performance inspired the like of Tinie Tempah, Jessie J, Labrinth, Wretch 32 and a whole generation of musicians. Preforming #1 smash ‘21 second’ So Solid performance at this years MOBO’s is un-missable.
Paying homage to 18 years of iconic MOBO history, Rudimental will be performing a special tribute to the Fugees, who won two MOBO’s at the first awards in 1996. Rudimental are the must see live band of 2013 and they’ll be performing a very special set exclusive to the 18th MOBO Awards packed to the brim with special guest. Nominated for ‘Best Video’, Electro pop duo AlunaGeorge will be performing the summer anthem ‘Attracting Flies’. In a mesmerizing performance inspired by their gritty take on classic children’s fairy tales the duo will no doubt provide a captivating and jaw dropping performance.
Fuse ODG brought the Azonto dance to the world; next stop the SSE Hydro Arena. In a Hugely energetic and awe inspiring performance of ‘Antenna’ & ‘Azonto’ Fuse, his legion dancers and a few famous faces will get the entire arena moving to their Afro-Beat.
Jahmene Douglas backed by the incredible IMDC gospel choir will perform a very special version of Emili Sande’s ‘Next to Me’. Jahmenes incredible vocal range will be framed by the exceptional sound of 20 strong choir producing a breath taking rendition of this modern classic.
