The Captain's Collection
Dogstar Theatre Company presents a revival of one of its earliest productions. Described as a play afloat on music, Captain Simon Fraser attempts to win fame by publishing his Highland music. In order to gain the favour of elitist Regency society he is compelled to remove the Gaelic verses, often of Jacobite and anti-Royal sentiment. Meeting Captain Fraser in advanced age he is visited by the ghosts and dreams dwelling within the pages of his collection, transported among the legends of the music and back through his own turbulent existence. Directed by Alison Peebles, one of Scotlands finest actors and directors, featuring the sublime singing of Alyth McCormack, 2009 Scottish Critics Best Actor Matthew Zajac and the playing of two of Scotlands finest traditional musicians, Jonny Hardie and Ingrid Henderson.
